The Duke’s an “early adopter” … seven years late

One had to smile at the news this week that The Duke of York has joined Twitter.

We know the Tweet is written by The Duke because he signed it "AY" for "Andrew York". (The Duke's real name is a tad more complicated than that, but that explanation is for elsewhere, such as the Duke of York's entry at the UK's Biography Channel.)

Anyway, congratulations to The Duke on finally joining the social media world.

Some have taken the opportinity to post a few unvaourbale comments, according to "Prince Andrew launches Twitter account, receives derogatory tweets" on news.com.au (9 July 2013).

What caught my eye though was the quote form the Duke's spokesman.

"The Duke has long been an early and enthusiastic adopter of new technology." - A spokesman for Andrew said.

Early? Enthusiastic?

Now Twitter this year celebrated its 7th birthday in March to mark the occasion back in 2006 when co-founder Jack Dorsey posted the first ever tweet.

The socaial media giant has stopped publishing details on the exact number of people on Twitter but it does claim to have more 200-million active users around the world.

Hardly think that make's Andy's entry this week the mark of an "early adopter".
