The directionless reporter
A little snippet in a Careers in Journalism guide available in Australian universities made me laugh.
Published by the Graduate Careers Council of Australia - and last updated some time ago by the way it reads - the document contains a number of comments from cadet journalists.
Here's what one cadet at a major metropolitan daily newspaper says:
"People have been more helpful than expected.
"Sub-editors and journalists traditionally have an antagonistic relationship but for the most part they have given me very constructive criticism.
"Some other cadets have not found its so easy to get this kind of feedback and so they feel a bit directionless."
I howled.
Watch out for them crashing into desks, filing cabinets and the all important water cooler.
